Factors affecting the acceptance of date crop insurance from the perspective of date insurance brokers with emphasis on the performance of the Agricultural Insurance Fund

Abstract

Introduction: The agricultural sector is always faced with a variety of hazards, including natural hazards. One of the government support tools for the sustainability of this sector is agricultural insurance.

methods: In order to investigate the factors affecting the acceptance of date insurance in six date-producing provinces of the country, from the perspective of brokers, a questionnaire was first prepared and then estimated using a generalized sequential logit model.

Results: The final effect of the variables of age, education, having a second job, insurance premiums paid, number of coverage risks, timely payment of damages, promoters, correct assessment and cultivation level on the probability of accepting insurance has been positive and significant.

Discussion: Better performance of the Agricultural Insurance Fund, along with other factors related to insurers, has a positive and significant effect on insurance acceptance.
