Abstract

Tthe present study was conducted to assessment the economic impacts of applying the technical knowledge of producing transgenic (genetically modified) willow-resistant potatoes in the country's potato fields. Based on the research findings, the internal rate of return for cultivation of willow-resistant transgenic potato seeds in the country's potato fields is 97% , benefit cost ratio more than one and equal to 41.4 and Its net present value is estimated at 496725384897 Rials. These findings generally show that investing or allocating credit to research projects resulting from this technical knowledge is economically justifiable and acceptable and its application is expected to reduce the yield loss and production cost of potato, economic and social benefits of producers, consumers and other stakeholders. Increase this product and play a worthy role in achieving food security. These results are documentary evidence of the acceptable economic returns of agricultural biotechnology research that can convince policy makers and economic planners of the country to pay more attention to agricultural research and its proper financing.
